Bluestone State Park
Encompassing over 2,100 acres of rugged, heavily forested, mountainous terrain, Bluestone State Park provides a wide variety of water-oriented activities for guests and residents of southern West Virginia. Just five miles south of Hinton, are nestled modern cabins, a campground and fine recreational facilities. The extra plus is that Bluestone is adjacent to Bluestone Lake, the state's third largest body of water.
New River Gorge National River
The center of some of the state's best whitewater rafting and canoeing. The colossal bridge spanning the New River was first called "The New River Bridge" but its name soon evolved into the New River Gorge Bridge. Because of the uniqueness of the bridge, included in the contract was construction of a parking area and overlook at one end of the structure, allowing sightseers to view the surrounding natural landscape of the New River Gorge.
Cascades National Recreation Trail
The Cascades National Recreation Trail ascends the gorge for two miles to the picturesque 66-foot Cascades Waterfall.
